Remortgaging your home in Morden or Merton? Talk to our house lawyers!

Are you thinking about changing your mortgage lender and need someone to take care of the legal paperwork? Our team of residential conveyancing solicitors can help!

Before we start work on your behalf, we will always outline the costs involved, so you understand your financial commitment to us. Most mortgage lenders will also require you to show proof of identity.

Here is a step-by-step guide of what will happen:

  • To start any conveyancing work for one of our clients, we will need to get hold of the deeds to your property and check they are in order.
  • We will receive instructions from your lender in writing.
  • It is likely that searches will need to be carried out. Commons ones include a Land Registry search, Bankruptcy Register search, water search and local search.
  • We will submit a ‘report on title’ to the new lender, giving details of any issues with the title deeds.
  • We will make ready your mortgage deed, along with any other relevant paperwork for you to sign.
  • Once the offer has been received from the mortgage lender and checked, we apply for your funds and set a completion date. We will also apply for a redemption statement from your current lender.
  • Completion where your new mortgage starts and your current mortgage is settled.
